Curl vs Straight hair

Recently, my Emak asked me to get my hair straight as its usual being. (ok, i know my hair is wavy and not straight). Emak said she likes me with straight hair then with the curls. In my opinion, with curls my hair look like it has volume rather then straight. Well, I do want to fulfill what my mother wishes for. I'm puzzled actually. To do or not to do? Sigh!
